Heart of Columbia Wedding Venue
Emma and John David had their wedding in Columbia, SC with the reception at the enchanting 701 Whaley St. Event Venue. This venue is right in the heart of Columbia and is frequently used for wedding receptions or other formal events. 701 Whaley is always our first choice when it comes to couples looking to have a wedding ceremony at a church and reception at another venue. There are many churches nearby including First Presbyterian Church which is where Emma and John David had their ceremony.
701 Whaley Wedding Receptions
701 Whaley has many options in terms of guest count, table setup, and overall layout of the reception. For Emma and John David’s wedding, they used the Grand Hall and the Granby room for their 200 guest count. Included with the rental, are tables and Chiavari chairs for your guests. Other spaces available for weddings include the Historic Pool room, the Olympia room, the Bridal Room, and more. 701 Whaley can host up to 1,000 guests and their staff is always ready to help.
Industrial Setting
The industrial feel of 701 Whaley is unique and has much potential for bringing different designs come to life. Emma and John David added feminine details to create a garden-party style reception. This look really contrasts the historic feel of the building and adds more whimsey. To do this, we were able to create a stunning floral installation that flowed down the grand staircase in the entryway. Furthermore, the blue, pink, and white details added a beautiful light and airy touch to the space.
Enchanting Wedding in Columbia, SC
We loved how Emma and John David’s special day came to life at First Presbyterian Church and 701 Whaley. From the touching ceremony to their showstopping sparkler exit, it was the perfect day. We loved being apart of this day and love working with vendors that made this day possible. 701 Whaley allows any vendor to work with their space which is another perk of this venue!
From the designer – 701 Whaley is such a fun venue to work in as a wedding designer because it serves as a blank slate to create a unique event. One of our favorite aspects of 701 Whaley is the staircase at the entry of the Grand Hall. We opted to highlight this area with a stunning floral installation from Becca Zorn Designs that overflowed into the lounge seating. We loved adding in light blue, pink, and white to this space to help soften the industrial look of 701 Whaley and create a garden-style event in downtown Columbia. Emma and John David’s head table is still one of our favorites demonstrating how a simple place setting with purposeful florals can be so impactful.
